We began our exploration of fabrication methods by laser cutting the profiles for our forms and constructing paper armatures. We continued by vacuum forming these armatures, and filling the resulting mold with concrete.
At the time, we were experimenting with using the number of profiles to reflect degrees of resolution in a material sense.
An object composed of more complex curves would be constructed with fewer of these profiles; and vice versa, so that as digital resolution increased material resolution decreased.
The resulting objects were clearly in the same family, yet represented a transition between emphasis on material and emphasis on form.
