Test Project
This may not look like much, but what you see here is the prototype for a new project page (written as a post.) These terms might be confusing until put in the context of WordPress's heirarchy. I explained in my WordPress UX post that I'm looking for a way to utilize the optional "Portfolio" feature in wordpress to gather together progress posts as updates to a single project. Unfortunatley, WordPress doesn't intuitively set things up for this.
And yet, below is a collection of thumbnails linking to each of my "Prototype" projects:
A quick toggle between the "Featured" page and this post will make clear that these links aren't a part of the theme. I tried very hard to recreate the hover functionality in this set up, but came up short. I didn't even get close to making this post responsive...
However, I did it all with a single line of WordPress "Shortcode." I'm still learning exactly how it works, but so far as I can tell, shortcode is a quick way to access some coded functionality within WordPress from the text of the post. There are more exhaustive articles on the subject, but I use shortcode to reference a plugin everytime I create a gallery. They're very useful for that feature, and now (perhaps) I will be able to use them to bundle posts together on a project page.
Of course, as I'm writing this it also occurs to me that I could have been using images on the project page that link to the posts. le sigh... sometimes I get a little too sucked down a rabbit hole..
