Here’s one of my older projects that I was always pretty happy with.

This is a business card holding robot that I made one weekend out of a cereal box. That’s just the kind of thing I do when I’m bored. It took a surprising amount of time to figure out the design, the proportions, and how to actually make it.
I didn’t start with the idea of holding business cards. I just wanted to make a paper toy with some recycled material. I started working off of a modular system of dimensions almost immediately (quarter inch.) Then came the idea for interchangeable faces. Then I noticed that if I just made it a little bigger it could also fit some business cards. Lastly, since the proportions were all multiples of a quarter inch, I found that the pieces could pack away cleanly. I think there’s room for further development, but for now I think it’s sufficiently adorable.
